Elder abuse affects the lives of many women and men over 55 and includes physical, psychological/emotional, financial, and sexual abuse. Most abuse occurs in families. Abusers and those abused come from all walks of life, all cultures, and all religions. Help is available..

Kerby Rotary House is the first purpose built shelter in North America for abused seniors. It offers safe, secure shelter to men or women over 55 years of age in Calgary and area, who are experiencing family abuse in their lives. The shelter provides crisis intervention, support, advocacy, referral, short-term housing and the necessities of daily life.

Shelter staff are available for public education and consultation on elder abuse. Call (403) 705-3244 to inquire.

Anyone who is experiencing family abuse or knows someone at risk can call the 24-hour crisis line at (403) 705-3250 for information and support.
