Volunteers shop and deliver groceries to frail or disabled older people in Calgary. The service includes delivery of prescriptions, over the counter medications, and personal items available from a grocery store. The cost is $3.00 per delivery.
A home visit is required to establish eligibility.
The requirements are as follows:
- Age 60 and over. Age 55-59 may be considered.
- Medically or physically frail. This includes individuals recovering from a recent illness or hospitalization.
- In receipt of Guaranteed Income Supplement or with an equivalent income. This means an income less than $18,000/year for a single and a combined income of less than $36,000 for a couple.
