Kerby Centre, in co-operation with The City of Calgary, the East Village Neighbourhood Association, and other community organizations, is expanding its programming and making space available for many of the programs and services formerly offered by the Golden Age Club. The Golden Age Club, which served seniors in Calgary’s East Village, closed its doors at the end of May.
“We are acting quickly to assess the program needs to accommodate a larger number of older adults both at Kerby and in East Village,” said Luanne Whitmarsh, CEO of Kerby Centre.“Kerby Centre will take a lead role in temporary relief as well as long-term planning. Some of Kerby Centre’s programs and services already serve older adults in East Village, particularly our grocery delivery program for low-income seniors who cannot shop for themselves.”
The Kerby Centre has been working closely with the East Village Neighbourhood Association and The City of Calgary to provide needed programming to the seniors of East Village.
