| Kerby Adult Day Support ProgramPhone: (403) 705-3214 Kerby Adult Day Support Program is for individuals 50-plus who have physical or emotional challenges that prevent them from getting out independently. This is not a drop-in program. People attend on a regular basis, usually one or two times a week. As a Calgary Health Region (CHR) subsidized program, participants usually only pay $5 per day to cover the lunch and snacks provided. Kerby membership is not required to take part in the program. Participants are encouraged to become involved in the Kerby Centre as much as possible. This includes taking courses, participating in special events and eating lunch in the dining room. While at Kerby Centre, participants are provided with health care, personal care, monitoring of health problems, health teaching, exercise, recreation, and an opportunity to socialize with other participants and members of the Kerby Centre at large. The recreational component of the program includes arts and crafts, discussion groups, outings, games, walks and cooking. While day program participants are at Kerby Centre, caregivers have a well-deserved day off. Staff are available to offer support and advice to caregivers when needed. The health care professionals who staff the service include registered nurses, health care aides and recreation therapists. Participants can also access other Kerby services such as social work consultations or foot care. To access the Adult Day Support Program, applicants must first be assessed by a Home Care nurse from the Calgary Health Region. Contact the manager of the Adult Day Support Program at (403) 705-3214 for information on the assessment or any details regarding the program.
